This beautiful, intact habitat was at one point intended to be the site of a nuclear power plant before the effort was stopped by community opposition in the 1980's. Subsequently, the property -- along with other parcels now protected by conservation easements on Samish Island -- was purchased by conservation-minded individuals. They partnered with Skagit Land Trust to extinguish the majority of development rights on the land and permenantly protect this special area for older forest habitat, wildlife and scenic views through a voluntary, donated conservation easement . The CE preserves nearly six acres, mostly wooded, on the northwest tip of Samish Island. One house is allowed. The property is protected from additional development and commercial logging. It includes approximately 600 feet of shoreline. It was donated in December, 1997.
This is private property without public access.
