This farmland along Nookachamps Creek was acquired by Skagit Land Trust in the large purchase of land from Kimberly-Clark in 2001. Kimberly-Clark owned the property for its potential in hybrid poplar production. Skagit Land Trust leased the land for several years to a local dairy farmer and has now sold the property to that farmer. The Trust also donated a farmland preservation easement to the county at the time of the sale. This easement not only protects the land for farming, but also protects the riparian area for the benefit of fish, wildlife and water quality.
