In December 2000, the Trust purchased 5 acres northeast of Marblemount along the mouth of Diobsud Creek as it flows into the Skagit River. In 2001, the Trust also purchased 10 acres along Diobsud Creek, including 2,000 feet of creek frontage further upstream. The Trust cleaned garbage off both properties that had accumulated after years of recreational use and held the properties until the US Forest Service received funds appropriated for the protection of these properties. By moving quickly and purchasing important habitat when it is for sale, the Trust is able to assist federal agencies in acquiring vulnerable properties that would otherwise remain unprotected.
