Hike Guemes Mountain with Jack Hartt

Fall is a beautiful time to visit Skagit Land Trust's Guemes Mountain & Valley Conservation Area! Join SLT for a hike up Guemes Mountain Trail on Saturday, October 11th @ 10:30am. Jack Hartt, SLT volunteer, local hiking expert, and author of Hiking Close to Home, will be our guide as we experience this lovely trail.

HIKE DETAILS:

The hike will start around 10:30am and get back down the mountain by 12:30pm. The hike is approximately 2.4 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of 550 feet. Click here to read more about this trail. Please bring anything you need for hiking, such as water, snacks or lunch, bug spray, sunscreen, a hat, walking stick if needed, and comfortable, warm, waterproof jackets and hiking boots/shoes if the weather forecast looks like rain.

TRANSPORTATION INSTRUCTIONS:

We recommend catching the 9:45am Guemes Island ferry in Anacortes to make it to the trailhead in time. Note: It is wise to arrive at the ferry about 30 minutes early, especially if you are driving in a group.

Due to limited parking at the trailhead and on the ferry, we strongly recommend carpooling or riding your bike onto the ferry. Once you land on Guemes Island, you will then proceed by car or bike to the Guemes Mountain trailhead to meet the group. Another option is to walk on the ferry and then catch a shuttle ride on the other side, from SLT staff or volunteers.

After the hike, you can utilize the shuttle service to get back to the ferry terminal. Note that there is a store that serves lunch near the terminal on Guemes Island, so people may want to go there for lunch while they wait to catch a return ferry in the afternoon.

Space for this event is limited, and Eventbrite registration is required! Please email Sarah at sarahg@skagitlandtrust.org with any questions.
