Join Skagit Land Trust at one of our beautiful conservation easements in western Skagit County - the Samish Island Squire's Heronry. Efforts will be focused on continuing to remove invasive English ivy from trees, shrubs and the ground. This is a big, but important task as this is a long-time nesting site for several hundred Great blue herons and the ivy is devastating to the trees. Over the last several years with volunteer help, we have successfully cleared acres of ivy from tree trunks and the forest floor. We'll provide gloves and tools, but please feel free to bring a kneeling pad if you wish. This is a private property and an RSVP is required.
Bring: Work and weather appropriate clothing, remember it’s always cooler in the forest. Sturdy trail shoes/boots, it can be muddy in October. And a full water bottle. Skagit Land Trust will provide snacks, water refill, gloves, and tools.
RSVPrequired: Parking is available at the Community of Christ Church however carpooling is encouraged. Contact volunteer@skagitlandtrust.org or 360-428-7878 to RSVP and coordinate to ride or drive.
Please RSVP by Wednesday October 4th so we can bring plenty of snacks and gloves!
