Join us for our 3rd Friday Stewardship Event to help maintain access to our most visited property! With the help of many partners, the 1.2 mile Guemes Mountain Trail provides a spectacular view of the San Juan Islands, Mount Baker, the North Cascades, and the Skagit flats. The mountain also features a unique mountain bald habitat with a wide variety wildflowers and maturing forest. The 80-acre Guemes Mountain Conservation Area is at the center of a larger 540-acre area of protected private and public lands. To help keep the trail to this special place in prime condition we need your help!
General trail maintenance includes tasks such as:
- Clearing ditches and clogged drainage features to prevent trail erosion
- Removing excess organic material and spreading mineral soil to improve trail condition
- Clearing large branches from the trail for safety
Bring sturdy trail footwear and prepare for warm weather with sunscreen and water. Bring a sack lunch and head up to the top to see the expansive and protected 360-degree views.
We will provide all the necessary tools but if you have a special pair of gloves, loppers, etc. feel free to bring them.
If you would like to join us please RSVP at volunteer@skagitlandtrust.org or call (360) 428-7878
