Storming the Sound

We are seeking 2 enthusiastic volunteers for an environmental education day at Storming the Sound! Storming the Sound is a conference for environmental educators in the north Puget Sound region, including the counties of Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, Island, Jefferson and San Juan. Every January teachers, environmental organizations and students gather in La Conner to share their interest and expertise in environmental education.

Volunteers will help by representing Skagit Land Trust at a display table; talking to guests about youth programs, local conservation efforts, ways to get involved and recreational opportunities. Volunteers are encouraged to ask guests to sign up for email announcements to join other volunteer activities. We will have two volunteer shifts from 8:30am - 12:30pm and 12:30pm - 4:30pm. Please let us know if you are able to make it!

If you have not volunteered with Skagit Land Trust a short orientation prior to the event will be organized to review coomonly asked questions.

Storming the Sound is also looking for volunteers!

The month of January brings our annual environmental education conference, Storming the Sound! The STS planning committee is looking for up to twenty volunteers to help run this great event, Thursday, January 26th, 2017. Interested in helping? Volunteers will receive a free lunch, and when not on task as a volunteer, may even participate in some of the conference learning sessions. How’s that for cool?! Storming the Sound will be held at Maple Hall Center in La Conner again this year. The conference officially kicks off at 9:00 a.m., but we are looking for volunteers to take on tasks as early as 7:00 a.m. through the end of the day at 5:30 p.m.

Below is a link to the volunteer sign-up sheet. The document lists the roles we need fulfilled, as well as the time brackets for each role. Volunteers would ideally be able to help for a minimum of a morning shift (7:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon) or an afternoon shift (12:00 noon – 5:30 p.m.). Within these morning and afternoon shifts, volunteers may have several responsibilities. Again, volunteers are welcome to participate in the conference activities for the portions they are not responsible as volunteer helpers.

Please click on this link to the volunteer sign-up sheet and let us know if you can help by filling in the sheet with your name, and one form of contact where we may reach you.

Thanks so much! We look forward to seeing you at 2017 Storming the Sound event.
