Join us at our Annual Meeting on Friday March 20th from 6-9pm at Maple Hall in LaConner.

A little about the guest speaker:

Dr. Estella Leopold, youngest daughter of Aldo Leopold, is Emeritus Professor of Botany and past director of the Quaternary Research Center at the University of Washington. Dr. Leopold was elected to the National Academy of Sciences and American Philosophical Society. Her research interests and publications focus on paleobotany, forest history, restoration ecology, and environmental quality.

During her career, Estella has authored more than 100 scientific publications. Her research has focused on the use of fossil pollen and seeds to determine the regional history of climate change, origin of grasslands, desert tundra and forest types, as well as evolution of herbs and woody plants. Estella has been an ardent supoprter of conservation throughout her life and is an active member of the board of the Aldo Leopold Foundation. Estella is a lively and knowledgeable speaker on the topic of the hisotry of flora in the Puget Sound area. We are honored to have her be the keynote speaker at our annual meeting.

Directions to Maple Hall:

From Southbound I-5:

  • Take I-5 North to Highway 20, head west towards Anacortes
  • Turn left on LaConner/Whitney Road (Farmhouse Restaurant is on the left corner)
  • Follow LaConner/Whitney Road approximately 8 miles (this takes you directly into town)
  • Turn left at Second Street and go over the hill
  • At the second stop sign turn right onto Commercial Street
  • Maple Hall/Center is on the left.

From Northbound I-5:

  • Take I-5 South to Highway 20, head west towards Anacortes
  • Turn left on LaConner/Whitney Road (Farmhouse Restaurant is on the left corner)
  • Follow LaConner/Whitney Road approximately 8 miles (this takes you directly into town)
  • Turn left at Second Street, go up and over the hill
  • At the second stop sign turn right onto Commercial Street
