Washington State Senator Kevin Ranker will be our guest speaker this year.
About the speaker: Senator Ranker serves as Majority Assistant Whip in the Washington State Senate. He is also Chair of the Natural Resources & Marine Waters Committee and is a lead author for the State's Natural Resource Budget. Previous to the Senate, he served as a San Juan County Commissioner and was a Senior Fellow at the Ocean Foundation. In February of this year, he received a White House appointment to serve as an Advisor to President Obama's National Ocean Council. He possesses an extensive and diverse background developing and advancing coastal and ocean policy, community development strategies, and conservation initiatives in the United States and internationally in Mexico and Indonesia. He lives on San Juan Island with his wife and daughter and is an avid sailor, paddler, fisherman and surfer.
In addition, there will be a complimentary breakfast and a brief conservation program. There will be a suggested donation request during the program to benefit local conservation efforts.
