Skagit Land Trust will join with the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group to plant trees at a stunning property just west of Concrete along the Skagit River. The landowners of this property have worked closely with Skagit Land Trust and other organizations to protect and restore native forest along a key stretch of the river rich in salmon spawning grounds. We'll have fun - possibly in the rain! - planting trees and helping to bring the forest back to a place aptly called Elysium.

» Field Event: Barr Creek Trail Building
Saturday, March 27, 2010
— 10:00 AM
to 1:00 PM
Rockport, WA
Skagit Land Trust, with the support of hundreds of members of the community, purchased the Barr Creek Conservation Area last summer. This beautiful property is on the flank of Sauk Mountain just east of Rockport. Our long-term plan for the property includes creating and maintaining trails to allow visitors to enjoy views of Barr Creek, the mature forest, and to have access to the historic trail up Sauk Mountain.
Led by Russ Dalton, our land steward and a former National Park Service trail worker, we will forge ahead during this first Barr Creek trail building event of the season! Please note that this event will involve strenuous work.
