Conservation Area Maintenance

Jul 2016 28

10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Minkler Lake

Details: This Conservation Area is home to many species of waterfowl, songbirds and an important water feature supporting salmon and steelhead.

Stewardship at Minkler Lake will include improving areas around established plantings, checking for encroaching invasive ivy, and removing tree protectors as needed. This is a great site to see many stages of restoration all in one day. A visit in mid-summer will show how dry the Lake is, be sure to come back and visit in the winter to see the changes!

Bring: Work and weather appropriate clothing and a water bottle, sun (or rain) protection is recommended; and hiking boots or muck boots for walking in tall grass. Work gloves and tools will be provided, but if you have a pair of hand clippers for your pocket please bring them. Bring a sack lunch for a group break, light refreshments will be provided.

RSVP: Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can bring enough gloves, hand tools and snacks. Contact Lisa for carpooling arrangements or directions at lisam@skagitlandtrust.org or 360.428.7878 by Wednesday July 27th.

Groups welcome.
