Kathy Thornburgh
President · Mount Vernon
Kathy studied botany and plant ecology at the University of Tennessee and marine ecology at the University of Washington. She has worked as a preserve steward for The Nature Conservancy, a habitat biologist for Alaska Department of Fish and Game, ran a water quality lab for the Tulalip Tribes, and retired after 20 years with Snohomish County working on water quality and environmental monitoring, public education, and habitat stewardship. She is an avid bicyclist and an active Master Gardener.

Kirk Johnson
Vice president · Mount Vernon
Retired Senior Planner for Skagit County. Kirk has a degree in political science from Lewis & Clark College, and master’s degree in public administration from University of Washington. Previously served on the board of Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland. Kirk has been a member of the Skagit Land Trust Public Policy Committee since 2017, and joined the Board in 2022.

Barbara Trask
Treasurer · Birdsview
Ph.D. Retired as a Senior Vice President of Fred Hutchinson Research Center and Director of its Human Biology Division in Seattle. Barb played a significant role in the Human Genome Project. She is an internationally recognized expert in genomics and the study of chromosome structure and evolution. Farm owner and conservation easement donor. Joined Board in 2011.

Tim Manns
Secretary · Mount Vernon
Tim Manns retired from the National Park Service after 34 years as a park interpreter and program manager. His assignments included North Cascades National Park, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Zion, and several other areas of the National Park System. Tim grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Harvard University with a degree in liberal arts. He serves on the board of Skagit Audubon Society and is on the Skagit County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. He served many years on the Padilla Bay Foundation Board and was a U.S. alternate on the U.S./Canada Skagit Environmental Endowment Commission. Tim and his wife Brenda Cunningham have volunteered with Skagit Land Trust for many years. Their longest involvement with the Trust has been as volunteer stewards for Barney Lake Conservation Area since the early 1990’s.

Harold Lee
Board Member At Large · Mount Vernon
Retired in 2012 after 40 years of technical instrumentation design and field service for mechanical engineering companies and the University of Washington Department of Oceanography. Volunteers with a number of local conservation and community service organizations. A Trust land steward since 2008 and serves on the following committees: stewardship, facilities, land, and investment. Joined the Board in 2013.

Roger Fuller
Board Member · Fidalgo Island
Roger is an Ecosystem Ecologist. He coordinates natural resource management at Padilla Bay National Reserve, including habitat stewardship, restoration, and research. He is also an Adjunct Faculty at Western Washington University, and is a member of the Skagit Climate Science Consortium. Roger joined the board in 2017.

Brad Furlong
Board Member · Fir Island
Brad Furlong lives on Fir Island with his wife, Eileen Butler, where they raised three children. He is a graduate of The Evergreen State College and the University of Puget Sound School of Law. Brad is a retired attorney who worked with the Skagit Land Trust as its pro bono legal counsel for over twenty years. He is an avid cyclist, hiker, skier and snowshoer. Of particular interest to Brad are the history of polar exploration and the effects of colonization on the American West. Brad joined the board in 2023.

Jim Glackin
Board Member · Mount Vernon
Real Estate Broker, Windermere Real Estate. Member of Skagit County Conservation Futures Committee (Farmland Legacy Program). A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Jim enjoys hiking & backpacking. He joined the Board in 2016.

Mark Hitchcock
Board Member · Samish Island
Retired forestry consultant and resident of Skagit County for more than thirty years. Recipient of degrees in forest science from University of Washington and Yale University. Previously served on boards of Skagit Land Trust and Skagit Conservation District.

Steven Johnson
Board Member · Anacortes
Co-founder of North Cascades Family Physicians. Retired family practitioner. Joined Board in 2009.

Karen Krub
Board Member · La Conner
Karen grew up in Mount Vernon and now resides outside of La Conner. B.S. in Resource Development from Michigan State University. J.D. from Yale Law School. Since joining the SLT Board in 2008, Karen has served at various times on the Land Committee, Executive Committee, Re-Accreditation Committee, and several ad hoc committees. She has been Chair of the Land Committee since 2012.

Mark Linnemann
Board Member · Guemes Island
Mark Linnemann is owner & proprietor of Both the Guemes Island Resort and the Guemes Island General Store. He is a strong advocate for the Trust on Guemes Island and Beyond. He was formally trained as a Fine Art Photographer with a focus on landscape & environmentally sensitive subjects. But has been working in the ecotourism field for the past 14 years. He is also involved in sustainably focused Glass Arts on Guemes Island through his work with the nonprofit Beacon Glass. As well as with elementary education, with a nature focus through his involvement with Fiddlehead Montessori in Anacortes, WA.

Therese Ogle
Board Member · Samish Island
Therese worked as a philanthropy advisor for several family foundations and charitable trusts. Therese has served on boards for North Cascades Institute, Philanthropy Northwest, American Civil Liberties Union - Washington, and the Fremont Women’s Clinic. She lives on Samish Island, just a few feet from the Samish Flower Farm beach property, and served on the steering committee for the Samish Flower Farm campaign. She currently chairs the Trust's Development & Outreach Committee.

Warren Walz
Board Member · Anacortes
Warren is a CPA with 50 years experience and retired from being a member/owner of Williams & Nulle, PLLC in June 2018. Since his retirement he is continuing to mentor younger CPA's on a part time basis. Currently he is a member of the Anacortes Yacht Club, which he is a past commodore of, and the Anacortes Rotary Club. Over the years he has served on the board of several other not-for-profit organizations. He joined the Skagit Land Trust board in 2014 and is a past president.

Lynne Wenberg
Board Member · Anacortes
Retired Senior Program Manager with Boeing. Lynne earned her undergraduate degree and MBA at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. Since retiring to Skagit County, Lynne has strengthened her focus and energies on environmental advocacy and volunteers her time with several local environmental organizations. After graduating from the Salish Sea Stewards Program in 2020, she joined their Advisory Committee to help administer program improvements. She has been a member of the Skagit Marine Resources Committee since March 2021, and is currently Vice Chair. She also leads several SMRC projects, such as the Bowman Bay Beach Restoration and the Skagit Bull Kelp Kayak surveys. Lynne joined the board in 2022.

Anne Winkes
Board Member · Conway
Pediatric nurse practitioner with degrees from University of Washington and Skagit Valley College. Stanford University English graduate. Anne's interest in Skagit Land Trust grew from her love of Skagit County's natural areas. Joined Board in 2014.

Keith Wiggers
Board Member · Burlington
One of three Skagit Land Trust founders. Former president of Skagit Audubon Society. Retired veterinarian. Joined the Board in 1992.
