Earth Day 3rd Friday Stewardship

Apr 2017 21

10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Minkler Lake Conservation Area

Earth Day is Saturday April 22nd but who says it only has to be one day?

Join Skagit Land Trust and Emerson High School at Minkler Lake Conservation Area for some Earth Weekend fun!

Details: Minkler Lake is a mile-long freshwater pond, which long ago was an oxbow of the Skagit River. In recent years the 138 acre lake has been left alone and undeveloped, and fish and wildlife have thrived. With this Minkler Lake still needs some help from invasive species such as ivy and butterfly bush. There is a large patch of ivy that we have been chipping away at and with a large group we can get it done. Butterfly bush is on the other side of the property and is just starting to spread.

Emerson High School students will be joining us for an all school event. Lets make tackle these invasives together!

To Bring: Weather appropriate clothing and shoes and a water bottle. If you would like to bring a kneeling pad please do so. We will provide a light snack, refreshments, and gloves.

Directions: A few miles east of Sedro-Woolley, turn a sharp right on Minkler Road, just prior to the town of Lyman. Park on the shoulder along the fence on the right, across from the horse farm, house #28576

RSVP: Please RSVP so we can accommodate everyone. Also parking is on the shoulder or a busy street, therefore carpooling is highly suggested.
