Day Creek Slough Butterfly Bush Removal

Jul 2016 2

9:30 AM to 2:00 PM
Day Creek Slough

Details: Please join us at Day Creek Slough Conservation Area to protect this riverside forest from a developing population of butterfly bush. While enjoying the scenery we will work to remove small seedlings and any developing seed heads to slow the spread of this noxious weed. There will be a moderate amount or walking through brush and downed trees to get as many plants as possible.

Bring: Work and weather appropriate clothing and a water bottle. There will be moderate canopy coverage, but sun (or rain) protection is recommended; and wear waterproof hiking boots or muck boots for crossing any shallow water. Work gloves and tools will be provided, but if you have a pair of hand clippers for your pocket please bring them.

RSVP: Contact Lisa for carpooling arrangements or directions at lisam@skagitlandtrust.org or 360.428.7878 by Friday July 1st.

This property is not open to the public, so this is a great way to get out to see this special place and help restore wildlife habitat!
