Geology Walk Up Guemes

Jul 2012 15

10:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Guemes Mountain, Guemes Island, WA

Scott Magorien, a summertime Guemes resident and geologist, has spent time studying the geology of Guemes Island over the last 5 summers, and has some interesting bits of knowledge to share.  Join him for a hike up the mountain to learn more about the processes that have formed Guemes Mountain, and then enjoy your lunch at the top on a summer day.

If you have time to join us on the hike down, we will be protecting the living side of the mountain by pulling invasive thistle and removing it from the mountain before it goes to seed.  Bring your thickest gloves and weeding tools for this part of the event - we'll have bags and extra gloves.

Space for the geology walk is limited - RSVP to reserve your spot.

Consider biking or carpooling to this event if you are able.  Suggested donation for non-members is $5.
