Skagit Land Trust has a board comprising eighteen volunteer directors:

Property Development Manager for Port of Skagit County. Board member of Padilla Bay Foundation, Past President Burlington Chamber of Commerce. Board member since 1998.

Alger

Owner of Fairweather Forestry, a forestry consulting business. Associate of Skagit Conservation District. Has served on various Skagit County Citizen Advisory Committees. Joined Board in 2006.

Formerly a non-profit director of Youthnet. She has served on many Skagit committees, is active in the schools and elsewhere. Joined board in 2007.

Anacortes

CPA and financial planner with an active practice. Treasurer and board member of Anacortes Parks Foundation and past treasurer of Anacortes Noon Kiwanis Club. Joined Board in 2006.
Bob Apter

La Conner

  Emergency physician and Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Island Hospital. He is also an avid sea kayaker and outdoorsman. Immediate Past President of the Anacortes Rotary Club. Joined Board in 2006.

Kathryn Bennett

Anacortes

 

30 years experience in non-profit management and development including positions with the Island Hospital Foundation, the Casey Family Program, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the American Red Cross. Executive Director of Leadership Skagit. Joined board in 2008

Mount Vernon

Retired Electrician, Graduate of WWU (Psychology) 1967, Past President and founding Board Member of Valley Museum of Northwest Art, The Lincoln Theater Board and five years on the Mount Vernon City Council.  Board member since 2003.

Mount Vernon

Civil Engineer with a focus on hydraulic engineering, partner in Leonard, Boudinot & Skodje, Inc. Joined Board in 2005.
Ron Feld

Mount Vernon

  A Registered Nurse employed in healthcare for 30 years. Certified Mediator and past Director of Skagit County Mediation Services. Graduated from Leadership Skagit, serves as co-facilitator for the 2006 program. Joined Board in 2005.
Jerry Haegele
Anacortes
  Retired business executive. Former board member of Skagit Audubon Society. Board member since 1993. Trust President from 1997 - 2001.

Ralph Heft
Big Lake

Retired from the US Bureau of Land Management. Owns and operates a Christmas tree farm. Stewardship coordinator and management plan coordinator for SLT land stewards. Joined Board in 2005. Stewardship Committee chair.
Karen Krub

La Conner

 

Grew up in Mount Vernon and now residing outside La Conner. B.S. in Resource Development from Michigan State University. J.D. from Yale Law School. Currently senior staff attorney with Farmers Legal Action. Joined board in 2008

 

Rusty Kuntze
Bay View

Retired lawyer, worked for the Swinomish Tribe, most recently as chief judge of Tribal Court System. Taught at Skagit Valley College and founding member and first Director of Common Ground. Joined board in 2005.

Fir Island

Principal of Miller Consulting. Three decades of experience in land planning, natural resource management and design. Formerly of Jones & Jones, Architects and Landscape Architects in Seattle. Joined the Board in 2001.

Lawyer. Right of way representative, Puget Sound Energy. Mount Vernon Farmer's Market board member. Joined Skagit Land Trust Board in 2003. Land Committee Co-chair.

Representative projects include North Cascade Environmental Learning Center, Allen Elementary School, Maritime Heritage Park Building. Masters of Architecture, University of Oregon, Ph.D. in Horiculture. Joined board in 2008

Keith Wiggers
Burlington

One of three Trust founders. Former president of Skagit Audubon Society. Member of Skagit County Conservation Futures Committee. Board member since 1992. Land Committee Co-chair.

Andrea Xaver
Big Lake

Fourth generation Skagit County landowner. Retired Region Business Administrator, Department of Natural Resources, Northwest Region; Co-Chair, Save Big Lake Society. On the Board since 1999. Trust President from 2001-2003

Bradford E. Furlong
